A. THE COUNTRY

The Republic of Guinea, a country in West Africa, is sometimes called
Guinea-Conakry to distinguish it from its neighbour Guinea-Bissau.  The
country has been relatively stable for 20 years and has been a place of
refuge for other nationalities fleeing their own countries.  A civilian
government was formed in 2010 with democratic elections.  Past inept and
corrupt governance reduced the economy to subsistence and poverty.
However, Guinea’s huge mineral deposits, along with fertile and
plentiful land and water, offer potential riches.

B. THE PEOPLE

The population is ~10,500,000 and official language French.  There are
about 40 ethnic groups.
~45.8% are West Atlantic, ~42.7% Mande, ~9.2% Mande-Fu, ~2.3% Other.

C. RELIGIONS AND CHRISTIANITY/PENTECOSTALISM

There is relative freedom for Christian witness and missionary activity.
~88.33% are Muslim, ~6.9% Ethnoreligionist, ~4.47% claim to be
Christian, ~0.3% Non-religious.
In the Christian category:
~1.84% are Catholic, ~1.8% Unaffiliated, ~0.63% Protestant, ~0.16%
Independent, ~0.01% Anglican.
Evangelicals represent ~0.7% of the population.
Charismatics represent ~0.5% and of those ~0.1% are Pentecostals.
