A. THE COUNTRY

The Republic of Congo (Brazzaville), in Africa, is west of the

Congo is a constitutional republic with an authoritarian presidential
regime.  Congo is undeveloped due to limited transportation.  It is rich
in oil and mineral deposits, and extensive rainforest and agricultural
potential.  There is a need to get away from dependence on oil,
top-heavy government and civil sectors, corruption and socialist
structures.
