BARBADOS
A. THE COUNTRY
Barbados is an island nation situated in the western area of the North
Atlantic Ocean, 100 km. east of the Windward Islands and the Caribbean
Sea. It is outside of the principal hurricane belt in the region. The
government is a stable parliamentary democracy and constitutional
monarchy (Elizabeth II). It is one of the most prosperous and
successful island states in the Caribbean, with an increasingly diverse
economy based on tourism, sugar, light industry and off-shore banking.
B. THE PEOPLE
The population is ~257.000 and the official language English.
~72.2% are African Caribbean, ~2.8% Mixed, ~2.4% European-origin, ~2.6%
Other.
There are symptoms of spiritual decline: materialism, theological
liberalism, decreasing church attendance, increased violence and crime,
culture of immorality, increased involvement in the occult and cults.

~94.94% claim to be Christian, ~2.15% Non-religious, ~0.9% Muslim, ~0.8%

~41.01% are Protestant, ~31.96% Anglican, ~11.76% Independent, !!.76%
Independent, ~10.4% Unaffiliated, ~4.29% Catholic, ~0.74% Orthodox.
Evangelicals represent ~34.2% of the population.
Charismatics represent ~23.9% and of those ~16.1% are Pentecostals.
