ANTIGUA AND BARBUDA
A. THE COUNTRY
The state of Antigua and Barbuda are three islands in the Caribbean.
Antigua is volcanic and Barbuda is coralline. The government is a
Parliamentary democracy and constitutional monarchy (Queen Elizabeth
II). Officially, Tourism is the mainstay. Questionable activities also
play a major part in the informal economy, but the government works to
control and remove these elements.
B. THE PEOPLE
The population is ~88,600 and the official languages English and English
Creole. ~83.8% are African Caribbean, ~15.8% Euro-American, ~0.3% Other
(South Asian).
C. RELIGIONS AND CHRISTIANITY/PENTECOSTALISM
Antiguans are almost all Christian by background, but complacency
prevails.
~92.51% claim to be Christian, ~3.7% Ethnoreligionist, ~2.1%
Non-religious, ~0.99% Baha’i, 0.6% Muslim, ~0.1% Hindu.
In the Christian category:
~33,88% are Anglican, ~38.81% Protestant, ~12.6% Unaffiliated, ~9.37%
Catholic, ~1.47% Independent.
Evangelicals represent ~19.9% of the population.
Charismatics represent ~13.9% and of those ~8.3% are Pentecostals.
